Designing for Chaos: UX for Dirty Hands and Ladders

Enterprise software assumes a quiet desk, but frontline professionals work in chaos; mechanics on ladders, farmers in the field, caregivers amid blaring alarms. With a severe shortage of skilled technical staff, every minute lost to bad software is a minute stolen from essential work.

Fresk.digital draws from years of experience in understanding business and workflows inagriculture, safety, and eldercare fed by deep knowledge through research, shadowing, interviews and validation. This talk gives a nudge into moving designers from "desk-first" assumptions to "environment-first" realities, with a practical three-pillar framework for tools that make the hard work for professionals better, faster, and more enjoyable.

You'll learn to:

  • Design for harsh, unpredictable conditions (Operational Robustness)

  • Strip screens to the unmistakable next action (Actionable Clarity)

  • Build confidence with smart defaults and instant recovery (Systematic Trust)

  • Treat physical context as the deciding factor in enterprise UX

For all levels of UX/UI designers.
